Sandra Ntando Masango

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your current role?

I am a mother of three children working in the alcoholic beer industry.
I am a brewing professional with a strong focus on quality, efficiency and continuous improvement. I have been in the brewing field for eleven years

What path led you into the drinks industry, and what drew you to the role you’re in now?

My path into the alcoholic beer industry was shaped by a strong interest in manufacturing and operational excellence. I was particularly drawn to brewing because it requires both technical precision and strategic thinking.

What are you currently working towards or enjoying most in your role?

Currently I am working towards completing my Diploma in Brewing. I have successfully completed module 1 and 2. This year I am studying towards the last module of the course (Module 3). Studying towards this qualification has really deepened my technical expertise and has allowed me to contribute at a strategic level.I

Is there something you’ve learned so far - about the industry or about yourself - that you didn’t expect when you started?

The biggest lesson that I have learnt is how much resilience the beer manufacturing industry requires. When I started I thought the role would be mostly technical focused on processes and systems. I did not expect the mental strength, adaptability and confidence it demands.

Is there anything you’d like to share with other women considering a career in the drinks industry? Or any final thoughts you’d like to share?

I would encourage women considering a career in the alcoholic beverage industry to believe that we belong here. This industry offers great opportunity for growth, innovation and leadership.

As women we should not be intimidated by environments that are male dominated, our perspective, skills and voice are valuable.

As women we should focus on building technical knowledge and never under estimate the power of consistency and confidence.
